Central chamber of the Arab baths in calle Can Serra in Palma
|
Although the period of Moorish rule over the Balearic
Islands lasted a long time, there are not many surviving
artistic remains because of the successive invasions
bent on the destruction of all signs of "enemy" culture.
In Majorca, the Palma of the Romans became Madina Mazurca,
the cultural centre of the island. Of this, these Arab
Baths are still conserved; one can visit the small,
main chamber, square in shape with a domed ceiling.
