Trail 6 Puigpunyent,
Valldemossa, Escorca
Sa Casa des Gegant After leaving Puigpunyent on the
Palma road, take the turning to the left towards the Son
Puig estate. Going past the estate on the right, at the next
crossroads take the track that leads off to the right, and
you will see the talayot of sa Casa des Gegant among the
orange trees. In its immediate vicinity, you can see the
entrance to another ruined structure.
Santuario de Son Mas Take the road to the Port de
Valldemossa and almost at once you will see the outbuildings
of Son Mas, and up on a rise to the right, shortly before
reaching the house, is the Santuario de Son Mas. This sanctuary
was excavated by the archaeologist William Waldren. It is
of interest because its ground plan brings the sanctuaries
of the "taulas" in Minorca to mind. It is, moreover,
the site of one of the most ancient sacred places in Majorca,
where pre-talayotic remains have been found.

The Sanctuary of Son Mas bears an extraordinary resemblance to the "taulas" in
Minorca.
A slightly concave façade, with a central entrance and an
apse-like shape.

Túmulo del Puig de sa Moneda If you have taken
the road towards Banyalbufar, the viewing point that the
Archduke Luis Salvador of Austria had built can be viewed
in the George Sand housing development. The tumulus of the
Puig de sa Moneda can be seen at the base of the viewing
platform in a small avenue with benches. The tumulus has
a rectangular structure at its apex.
Santuarios talayóticos de Almallutx At the
side of the road next to the Gorg Blau reservoir (Escorca),
there remains standing one of the columns that used to mark
the site of the three talayotic sanctuaries of Almallutx.
On the other side of the reservoir two of the sanctuaries
that have not been submerged by the waters can still be seen
with their corresponding columns. These sanctuaries still
guard many secrets and a visit is recommended if only for
the splendid countryside that surrounds them.
