MAJORCAN EMBROIDERY

Embroidery is an art being recovered with the guidance of the old
embroiderers
|
The embroidery stitches typical
of Majorca are punto mallorquin, cadeneta, punt enllaçat
and punt de creu. The old craft of embroidery has only
recently been recovered. The villages with the longest
tradition are Manacor, Campos, Pollença, Sencelles,
Santa Margalida, Artà and Felanitx. In many cases
the artisans have a shop next to their workshop. |
In Palma there are still a handful of historic establishments
that specialize in embroidery: Can Bonet, Brodats Mallorca
and Dana.
